Porcupine Tree Stuff

I've fallen totally in love with PT's stuff. It's wonderful. Slowly working my way through the albums one by one digesting them. Some amazing tracks there.

I'd only gotten into them recently after having most of in absentia for agees and signify. But yes amazing.

if anyone is interested, here's a link to a Steven Wilson interview:
http://www.delrock.it/videogallery/2007-...e-tree.php

I could see Jimmy agreeing with much of what he says..especially the last bit about Sad music vs Happy music. I really wonder if Steven Wilson has ever heard Ours.

Had I met him at the PT show I went to, I would've asked him...

I recently got Deadwing. "Arriving Somewhere but not here" is one of the best songs I've heard in a long, long time. I am so happy to have found this band.

Do they still tour?

Of course I would miss them. This happened with Muse, dredg, and Ours. Sigh. Just as I discover them, they're coming off a national tour.

grrr. Oh well, I'll catch them next time, hopefully.

Either way I have Explosions in the Sky to look forward to!

Trathena..don't worry....they do tour often..except for the fact in Minneapolis's case..they played here to around 500 or so in '03 and '05, and have played the States 4 times since and have yet to comeback.

They'll be touring next year I'm sure, save for the fact Gavin Harrison, their drummer is going to be playing with King Crimson some next year.

Interview with Steven Wilson

It's very interesting, and what he says about MTV culture makes me love him. I had no idea until I saw this interview that Steven Wilson looks like an adorable math geek!

From his site:

We are happy to announce that Steven has now made an agreement with Kscope in the UK for the international release of 3 solo albums over the next few years, starting with the retail version of Insurgentes on 10th February 09. The track listing for the album is:

1. Harmony Korine
2. Abandoner
3. Salvaging
4. Veneno Para Las Hadas
5. No Twilight Within The Courts Of The Sun
6. Significant Other
7. Only Child
8. Twilight Coda
9. Get All You Deserve
10. Insurgentes

Guest musicians appearing on the album are Gavin Harrison (drums), Tony Levin (bass), Mike Outram (guitar), Jordan Rudess (grand piano), Clodagh Simmonds (vocals), Sand Snowman (acoustic guitar), Theo Travis (flute, clarinet), Michiyo Yagi (koto), and a full string section.

Tony Levin, Jordan Rudess and the opening cut titled "Harmony Korine"..must be a fan of the filmmaker.

the Digital version last thing I saw was expected to be available in November sometime, but I haven't seen any confirmed dates.

so INSURGENTES was released/sent-out/leaked recently..played it a couple of times..not vastly different than much of his other projects..but still..it's got some great material on it..ya know..if you're a fan of PT/BF/NM etc..

it does have somewhat of a *soundtrack* style to it..some of it at least. Personally, I like it when SW writes those trippy/melodic sections with piano.

I've not heard anything yet, but then I've been away from the Nets for awhile. I'm looking forward to this, though. I adore anything Steven Wilson.

Thank you for the heads up, Kyle!
