I know! I was thinking yesterday, "this time next week, I'll be in St. Louis waiting for what will be the best concert of the year."

Whippee!

So what time does everyone think ours will go on? 10:30?

I was thinking 10 or 10:30. Bands usually start promptly at 8, you figure 40 minutes a piece for the two openers plus taking down their equiment.

I was thinking about staying at the crowne plaza in clayton, but it's too expensive. It's close though.

This is from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong. Last year's show was a makers mark/beer infused wild rock show. This year was more of a laid back, chill sunday night show. It kinda fit the mood because I was blazed out of my mind the entire time. Jimmy even commented on how drunk they got last year. Smile

Willing
Black
Drowning
Mercy
Ran Away
Here is the Light
Places (not full song) Jimmy acoustic by request
The Moth
Murder
Ave Maria
God Only Wants You
Bleed
Live Again
Worst Things
Get Up

The highlight of the night for me was drowning and the moth. I finally get to hear drowning after 7 shows! The moth was amazing with an extended jam at the end. It looks like they left autumn out. I'll have to remind them to play it tonight. On to kansas city!!!!

jlatham, I think you got the set list correct, even the "Places" teaser! The show was wonderful. Lots of energy, the band seemed to be in a great mood. Kirke is fantastic. All of them are. For me, the acoustics are not as good at Blueberry Hill as they were at Schuba's; however, it could have been that I was sitting extremely close to the speakers: so close that I could feel the vibrations like air against my skin. So actually ThisOtherKingdom would be a better judge of the sound quality.

The two opening acts were fantastic! I got CDs from both of them. They are extremely good, and completely approachable and grateful to be touring with Ours. The guitarists from both bands are extremely talented. Don't skip these acts, people. They are worth showing up for. There were maybe 10 people in the room to see Plain Jane Automobile, and considering that Ours handpicked them to open, it was a shame that people missed out.

Ok, personal experiences are following, so leave now if you're not interested in "Trathena's gushy ramblings." :-)

Before the show, Jimmy came out to say hi to us early birds. There were maybe five of us in the entire room. A girl I met in line, offered to take our picture. I was all, "Oh no; it's OK." I'm really, really, really, really shy about taking pictures. Jimmy walked up to me and put his arm around me and stood there until the girl took the picture.

A huge pleasure for my spouse and me was sitting with ThisOtherKingdom and his gorgeous girlfriend. We did get there early enough to get the one table in the entire room, which was very good.

Once we claimed the table, I asked the bartender if we could move it close to the stage. He told me that would be fine as long as I stayed to the right or left of the stage. We moved it right up to the left side of the stage. Last year, I was close enough to Static to touch him. This year I got to watch Locke work his magic. Locke, Race, and Jimmy were within touching distance. It was fantastic.

The crowd was small. The place didn't sell-out. But still, I got some funny looks because I was sitting down right there at the stage. But I can't help it! I could have stood, but it would have hurt. I don't look like I have arthritis, but I do. Believe me, I'd stand if I could.

There was a group of friends standing right next to me that were having the time of their lives. They were obviously huge fans, and they'd dance and then have these moments of bliss where they looked almost overwhelmed. It was wonderful to see.

However, during the concert they crowded up to the stage and told Jimmy to take off his shirt. They didn't ask; they pretty much told him that he needed to take off his shirt. Jimmy just stood there, speechless, and his eyes got very round. I said, "It's not like he'll sing any better if he does." Jimmy never said a word. He didn't answer them. He just went on to the next song. I did feel kind of bad for saying what I did. I didn't mean to scold, and those kids meant no harm. I know Jimmy is sexy and his body art is beautiful and I would have liked seeing it, but damn. He wasn't stripping. He's not up there to titillate, you know? The only time "take it off" should ever be said to another human being is if he/she is your lover or you're in a strip joint. I don't think those kids realized they were embarrassing the hell out of him. And he didn't take anything off either. If he'd planned to, they ruined it.

After Jimmy gave us our "Places" teaser, I said, "Thank you," and he looked right at me and smiled. ::giggle::

When he talked about getting drunk the last time they visited St. Louis, my spouse bought him a shot of Makers. He was happy! :-)

I bought two shirts and CDs by all the bands. I got some stickers and even a poster from the bar, which is cool because it has the original CD release date, which is my husband's birthday. I also got a set list, which now has autographs of Static, Locke, and Jimmy.

After the show, they began asking us to leave pretty damn quickly. I wanted to get Jimmy's autograph, but he was surrounded by those great kids. He talked to them for a long while, which I loved him for because they are so clearly huge fans. So I didn't interrupt. Eventually, on the poor guy's way out the door I accosted him and had him sign the set list.

Static remembered my husband and me from Scuba's last year!!!

April is as sweet as any woman can be.

I stupidly neglected to get any autographs from Plain Jane or God or Julie.

Quote from my non-fan husband: "Kirke is a monster. All the drummers from all the bands were amazing."

Just a perfect night all the way around.

Yeah, the sound wasn't that great for us either. I'm chalking it up to being so close to the speakers, but it did sound like Jimmy's vocals was a little buried.

Overall, it was a great show and I had a fantastic night. But as much as I love the new songs, I wish they'd throw in a few older ones as well from time to time. They seem to play the same set list every night.
